The campus community at Buffalo State is a talent rich and academically-diverse ecosystem that is well-positioned to be an active driver in the Buffalo Niagara region’s renaissance. However, as is common with large enterprise, departmental knowledge, ideas, and innovation sometimes exist in relative isolation from one another. While words like collaboration, partnerships, networking, and synergy are routinely expressed as 21st century essentials, actualizing them within the campus community requires tactical intention, institutional supports, and thoughtful implementation.
The Office of Research and Economic Development has launched the Buffalo State Idea Lab, a grassroots initiative designed to create an environment for open exchange among faculty and staff that facilitates the sharing of ideas, insights, and experiences that foster and promote a culture of creative engagement, intellectual dynamism, and academic and entrepreneurial cross pollination. In short, we’re engaged in cultivating a community of ideas within our Buffalo State campus.
The Idea Lab schedules open, monthly meetings for faculty, staff, and interested stakeholders to share their thoughts, ambitions and ideas in an informal setting. Outputs from each meeting are collated and posted on the Economic Development webpage.
We convene to constructively share ideas, insights, and experiences that will facilitate the Buffalo State mission and advance creativity, collaboration, and research within our campus community…and beyond.
Buffalo State will be nationally recognized as a community of ideas, innovation, and entrepreneurship
